Tropaeum Traiani – Adamclisi
The triumphal monument built by Emperor Trajan after the Dacian Wars
The monument at Adamclisi was built in 109 AD on the orders of Emperor Trajan to commemorate his victory over the Dacians and their allies. Today's monument is a reconstruction; the original metopes with battle scenes are on display in the nearby museum. Close to the village lie the ruins of the Roman town of Tropaeum Traiani.
